Nearly 8 weeks after the drawing, 2 winners come forward to claim the $1.3 billion Mega Millions jackpot.

The $1.34 billion prize has been claimed by two people who agreed to split it if they won, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased in Des Plaine at a Speedway petrol station in the latter part of July.

The Illinois Lottery said the prize for the July 29 drawing was claimed by two individuals who had agreed to split the prize if they won.

It increased in size because no one has successfully matched the six randomly chosen numbers since April 15.

The winners selected to receive the $780.5 million settlement in one single amount. According to the lottery, the jackpot is the third-largest in US history.

According to the lottery, the two persons have been collaborating with knowledgeable financial and legal consultants over the past few weeks to help the claim process.

Harold Mays, director of the Illinois Lottery, said in a statement, "These winners are now in the enviable position of determining what to do with their unexpected money."

After taxes, the two winners will each receive roughly $250 million, for a total payment of about $453 million.
